Anyone else feeling sad tonight at work/school returning tomorrow!!?

I've only had from NYE off but I've really enjoyed the slow days, late nights, long lies. Just a complete break from the routine.

Back to alarms set, school run, work, etc and all with the gloomy backdrop of cold January.

Just feeling a bit down about it!

Christmas is officially over.

I also get this in recent years, it was particularly bad in 2024 so to combat it this year I have booked lots of fun things to do this month and next.

Primary shool started on Friday 3rd here so daughter made an early start.
Husband's job started at 2nd at 8am. I went in a 11pm on 1st.
I agree holidays are always too short.

Bastard inset day tomorrow so I’ve got one more day of hell, I mean, delightful relaxation.

Cannot WAIT to get back into routine! Still hate the school run but love booting everyone out of the house and not having to think up quite so many meals and snacks.

I am going skiing for a few days next week, I have a theatre trip planned at the end of the month, and a few days in Brighton. Big birthday for me next month so going on a long haul holiday with DH.

I fully appreciate I am in a fortunate position to be able to do these things, but if I wasn't I would make sure I walked dogs/exercised with friends, met them for coffee/lunch, did some self care things that brought me joy.

Sometimes its mind over matter isn't it.....easy to say hard to do but not impossible.

I totally get this. I am sad about rushing around and feeling like I don't have enough time for anything from tomorrow onwards. Sad that it's back to long hours in childcare for my daughter too. Sad that my husband is going away for work again. I don't usually feel like this either but we've had a lovely relaxing break.

I feel exactly the same. I’ve loved being at home with the kids, it’s so nice to have a break from routine and just relax. It’s going to be brutal getting back in the swing of things again.

I’ve decided to leave the tree up until next weekend to keep the house cosy whilst we adjust, and I’ve planned lots of fun things to do this month.
