I am wanting to find out other parents knowledge / experience of taking a holiday in school term time, specifically middle of September.
I know the rules, take less than 5 days you would get a fine and that’s it, but I don’t know the consequences of taking 8 days off school, like any further action.
We haven’t been on holiday for a few years, 2019 was the last time. DC hardly has any time off school ill or otherwise. I just don’t like the worry of not knowing, it’s pointless asking the school as obviously they will make it out to be as bad as they can. I’m not particularly social with other parents so can’t ask a wide audience from the school itself.
Im also aware it may vary by school as well as county, some people say it’s the headteacher decision, but DC last schools headteacher said it wasn’t up to her it’s the LA.
So in short what I’m asking is what’s the worst that could happen? Am I worrying unnecessarily? DC will be starting YR9 in September and it’s is North Hampshire school.
