6 weeks out of school rules

Hello,
We are planning to take our 8 year old daughter to live in Poland with her paternal family for 12 weeks next year, to enhance her cultural knowledge and language skills. 6 weeks will be the school summer holidays, but the other 6 weeks are term time.
Has anyone had any similar experience and can advise on making the application to school to ensure her place is held open, and convert to 6 weeks home schooling (we have spoken with her form tutor who is happy to provide all the course work so she keeps up with the years curriculum).
What position will local authority take? Will it be classed as unauthorised absence? Anything we can do about this?
Any advice on how to do this the best way would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Paulina.

You don’t ‘home school’ they will take her off the register.

Kids do this all the time - speak to school but don’t deregister

Speak with the school. First of all, they have some rules about kids with families abroad (sounds awkward, not sure how to call it, but it's your case). They allow a little bit extra time on holidays, but I don't remember how much. Might be a week or two. And you have to tell them anyway, in case you properly use all the allowed time. Another thing, ask for online lessons. After pandemic it's all set up, they might be happy to offer it.

speak to the school first before booking anything. Most schools follow the rule that if a child misses 20 days in a row, on the 21st day they can de-register the child and they will be taken off roll, your child might come back to no school place at all. No school should allow more time off because they are originally/have family in other countries - we all have the same rules. Check the attendance policy on your school's website. It's likely that you will lose your child's school place, you will have to re-apply and there's no guarantee of a place. And you might get a penalty notice. Technically, you can't apply for 6 week's homeschooling. You either home school or you don't. Again, speak to the school but be realistic about it.
