When are summer holidays in England (in general)?

Been thinking of taking the kids to London and I think in Ireland the school holidays are longer than in England - so I'm just wondering if there's a week where we're on holiday but England isn't.

In general we break up the very end of June until the very end of August. That's for Primary school. Secondary breaks up the end of May. But my kids are primary yet.

We tend to break up around the 20th July and go back at the start of September.

We break up mid-late July to early September. Going in June would be your best bet.

I'm in Leicester and we usually start the holidays a week or 2 before the rest of England. Our kids finish for the summer on Friday July 14th.

Looking at a couple of London council websites it seems London breaks up on Friday 21st July.

Go pretty soon after your holidays start.
Some private schools might be on holidays, but generally state schools wait til the 20-somethingth.

First week in July would be ideal. Longer nights too and and slightly warmer than august. Scotland are off then but go back mid august.

Wish we did this in England!

Private schools often break up around the 7th of July, so I'd definitely go in your first week off because then pretty much everyone will still be in school.

Perfect. Thanks all.
