Advice/your experience of having second DC whilst eldest is not in nursery/schoolage

Hello!

I'm expecting my second DC in January and my DD will be almost 3. She isn't yet in nursery - we plan for her to start nursery in May next year (the earliest she can start a school nursery for our chosen school). She isn't in any daycare nursery - we've had a look at the local ones that have availability but haven't really liked the look and feel of them.

I'd love to hear from SAHPs who had a baby whilst their eldest was still not in nursery or of school age. Was it really really tough? I would love any advice on how to manage it. Thankfully DH plans to take 3 months paternity leave so that is something!

Any advice and stories of your experiences is hugely appreciated x

Honestly no big deal! I loved having two at home. My husband rarely got more than a week off too, and we’ve had four.

My eldest was 2yrs 8 months when the baby arrived. I tried to stick to the toddler's routine as much as possible and the baby just had to fit round. So we carried on going to all the parent and toddler groups and classes and baby came too. It actually made things a bit easier as the toddler was kept busy, there were other adults around to keep an eye on him if I needed to feed the baby and I sometimes even got a hot drink!
The baby got used to sleeping and feeding anywhere which was also useful.
My DH only got 2 week's paternity leave in those days, so I was on my own pretty quickly!
I loved having my 2 at home (although we weren't at home much!).
