There doesn't seem to be that many "Stay at home dads" on MN

Am I alone on this topic?

I think there are few SAHDs period, not just on Mn.

DadJoke · 18/09/2024 10:06

There were 141,000 SAHD in 2022, 7% of men, compared with 28% of women are SAHP.

TBH, it’s much more common than I thought.

On mn - very rare.

Yes, I think you are right.
My DS is 7 months old now.
Never missed any time together.
Wife works full time.
I love every minute, of every day.
Wouldnt change anything .

Well, then you are doubly unusual. A SAHD who actually likes it. I think being a SAHP in fact suits very few people, but women disproportionately do it because for some, less educated women, it's still experienced as a cultural pressure, and because their jobs are less lucrative and fulfilling. The three current/former SAHDs I know only did/do it because of illness or being a trailing spouse

Thanks.
I wouldnt change it for the world. ❤️
I get to 5 play groups a week, Mon -Fri.👍
Prams in the park, twice a week👍
I have met some fantastic new mum friends.
They all are amazing.
This hives me a totally new perspective of how hard it is to bring up babies, and how well most mothers do.
