Returning to work

How long were you not working and what was it like returning?

I'be not worked since my youngest was born 2.5 years ago, plan to return when he starts school (so will have been 4.5 years).

I'm trying to work out how to manage the school pick up and after school care in the afternoon as we don't have any family support and husband won't be able to help at all due to his job.

What do people do for that?

Previously I was NHS so will need to do my return to practice then hope to work 3 or 4 days a week.

Childminder or school wrap around.

I went back to work full time after six months maternity leave but no family in the uk so we used breakfast, after school and holiday clubs. DH dropped off and I collected. Needed to be organised but worked well and DT’s enjoyed the additional time to play with their friends.

Our school has breakfast club £4 from 7:30am and then after school club £7.50 until 5:45pm. They also offer clubs in the half terms and school holidays which are reasonably priced.

Thanks yes I've seen the school wrap around clubs are on offer, I need to check out the times and the price of them.

Would a childminder usually pick them up from school? Or do the kids need to be dropped there is usually

Hi, I don't have any advice I'm afraid but just wanted to ask a question if that's okay? I just wondered how you managed financially with not being in work for that long? And did you quit your job and are having to reapply?
Sorry for the sensitive questions, it's just that I was due to go back to work in Feb after mat leave but because I've been mentally ill I've had time off and now work are either wanting me to go back or may look at dismissal and I'm not sure how I'd cope financially if I were to be sacked but I don't feel like I can go back to work either yet!
Sorry for rambling!
