My husband works very long hours, leaving at 5am and not getting home until 7pm sometimes even on the weekend, I recently had a baby and also have a 20 month old, the problem is we live far away from any friends or family and I'm at home all day parenting and doing all the housework, I have a car and can go anywhere I like but with a newborn and a toddler it's very hard. My toddler hates being in the pram and my newborn hates being in a baby carrier so going anywhere on my own is a nightmare.

I love my husband but sometimes I feel like leaving just so I can return home and have family around to help.

I'm sorry it's so hard. Are you able to pay for a cleaner? Can you get a Home start volunteer to offer some support to get you into some local organisations for support and friendship? I have a very close age gap and no how challenging it can be.

Thats sounds quite depressing. I agree it would be better to be near your friends or family, would it be possible to just stay with them during the week since your DH works so late?

I always found it important to get out every day with young dc, it's not healthy to be stuck indoors. My youngest was the opposite, she hated the buggy but loved the carrier but she's fine with the buggy now. I think just be persistent and maybe try a sling library to try different carriers.

Thst would be an absolute nightmare life for me.
I’d say look at some nursery for your older child and make plans to move from your current location. Explain to your husband why this is non-negotiable unless he drastically changes his working hours.

Can you start by spending a night with your family once a week?

just wondering- why are you living so far from your family? It sounds like DH has a long commute so it’s not like you are close to his work either.
