Do you send your DC to playschool?

DD will be 2 soon and we've put her name down for the local playschool. Only for 2 mornings a week.

I feel like I shouldn't be sending because I'm home. All others are at school now.

Do you send yours? Is 2 too young?

Three and a half here, I think it's more than enough time, I want them to be able to tell me how it all is for them etc.. I think 2 is too young but others will say its fine which I understand especially if their children have been in creche but closer to 4 sits better with me :-) it's a totally personal choice, I don't think there's a wrong answer...its all up to you

Up to you - DT’s went to nursery full time when they were six months old. I wanted to return to work and my career wouldn’t wait if I took longer off.
The nursery was brilliant - two of the staff became our weekly babysitters.

Research suggests between 2.5 and 3 is when they start to need more play with peers and to start building if those relationships separate from you.

Mine went to preschool just before they turned 3 for two mornings a week gradually increasing to 5 the July before they started school. We were lucky to have a preschool that were flexible to this and had availability.

DD started preschool for 3 mornings a week when she was just 3 (after Easter). Then we upped it to 4 mornings, and finally 3 mornings, 1 full day and 1 day off. She loved it so much and it did her the world of good.

DS started at 2.5. This was in 2021 when I was trying to homeschool DD at the same time! Plus he's a Summer born so we wanted him to have a bit more time at preschool, so started him earlier than DD. He started on 1 morning and 2 afternoons, then we gradually upped his days as well, until he was doing 1 morning, 1 afternoon, 2 full days and 1 day off. He loved it too, and it helped him with his clingyness to me which was, in short, fairly extreme!

I was a SAHM both times, as well. No guilt at all because they enjoyed it and it was good for them!

We sent ours at 3.

Thanks everyone. I think 2 is too young. I'll wait until she's closer to 3 x
