Hi, I just wanted to say that awful as everything has been, Covid has simplified things somewhat.
I'm a SAHP to a 21 month old and even though I have other sahm mates I felt guilty about not returning to work, because that's what everyone asks you right?!!
I am technically still employed but I'm on a 'bank' status so not contracted hours, but I was being offered work pre Covid shutdown.
Now my LO is at nursery for 1 or 2 mornings I am using the time for myself and I won't lie, it feels good in every way.
Luckily my husband brings in a good wage that we can live on but from being independent all my life (I'm in my 30s), it made me feel guilty about the way SAHP is seen by some. The reality is, parenting is a job. A big old job. Compared to employment, it's longer hours, little in the way of breaks, no colleagues to help you and of course zero pay!
Covid has definitely removed those awkward conversations and that pressure for now... and it feels good.
