Tax credits/sahp help

Married with 3 children. Working has become so hard (children with extra needs) and boss has refused to reduce my hours. We get some tax credits, if I was to take a few years out of work until children are a little older how would tax credits work. Anyone done this before? Would I get more/less or move to income support. Just to add husband works full time.

Anyone any advice please

I think it might be a move over to Universal credit, do any of your children get DLA?

Hi OP, it might be worth going to the Turn2us website and enter all your details there. You would get some idea then of how it would work.

Have a look on the calculator as every case is different. I do know that change of circumstances has you moved to UC.

If your DH works you could stay on Tax Credits and receive more unless you need to claim help with rent for the first time. Income Support no longer exists for new claims. As pp said do your children get DLA?

Speaking to a benefits or welfare rights adviser would be best as your circumstances are not straightforward, possible DLA, carers etc. There are too many variables and too much misinformation to get proper advice on a public forum.

To carry out an informed assessment an adviser needs to ask many questions and have a lot of personal information from you.

No I don't receive anything. Just tax credits. If I moved to universal credit is it a pain? Would they stop any tax credits I receive as I have chosen to give up work?
I have 2 children who were referred for adhd before lock down but don't receive anything.

I will look at others now.

fatgirlslimmer we have a mortgage and wouldn't need any housing benefit. I just wanted to no if I would be entitled to tax credits still or if they would cancel them with me choosing to give up work. Children haven't been diagnosed yet. Only thing we get is tax credits.

DLA is based on the child's needs not the dx. You could always apply now?
