Plans for the summer holidays

I’m getting excited as the holidays approach, especially with such lovely weather to get me in the mood. I love having the dc home and under my feet. I always have more plans for the summer than we ever get round to. This year I’m thinking of making a sundial in the garden, and some solstice markers. We’ve visited a megalithic site recently so I think this will capture their interest. I’ve seen a nice experiment online for making a solar oven out of a pizza box, so we’ll have to give that a go. Dd has been hankering for a dolls house so I’m combing the local charity shops for one that we can do up together. I’m hoping to get them all cooking too. And there’s always gardening.
I tend to get stuck into a project and let the dc come and go as they want (and it isn’t school after all) which works fairly well. And they’ll come up with a few projects of their own too.
Of course I still haven’t worked out how to keep on top of the house, and grocery shopping can turn into a nightmare. I’m dreading the daily battles withsunblocks and screen time.
But I still can’t wait!
Anyone else getting excited?

Ds starts school in September (finishes pre school in July)so we're planning a quiet last week but lots of things for the other weeks. I'm going to do a day out a week, York Railway museum, local museum, trip to nearest city, butterfly/bird place, Eureka. ...that sort of thing. See friends a couple of days a week, visit family. Looking forward to not having days tied up with pre school.

I can't wait either. I enjoyed half term with them so much. So far today I've made a jar full of activities to do together written on pieces of card that they will be able to pick one a day to do, I've ordered a tent for garden camping, and made a reading reward chart that they can complete to earn prizes from my summer reward chest. I also made the reward chest from a cardboard box and bought little rewards for it in the pound shop, I even bought some water balloons Grin 6 weeks of school to go yet though!!
