DH husband wants to move back to London or closer

DH and I with our 2 kids recently moved up to east midlands from London not long ago. We have lived here for more than 3 months and DH hates everything about the new area. We wants to move back to London but we cannot afford London living. He also has his family in London who cannot make the travel to where we live now due to health reasons. I have said that we can maybe try moving closer to London like Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire in a years time when our tenancy comes to an end here. Now we also have to consider finding a school for our ASD daughter who is currently undergoing an EHCP for support at school. Our DD daughter doesn't seem to fit into the new school either and tends to lash out due to this. We want to find a more diversed school for her as well because she did really well in previous school that had more diversity before the move. I am also worried about keep changing her school because of her needs but hoping that we can find the right place for her before secondary at least. She will be starting Yr 2 in September. DH misses having easy access to shops and fun places to take the kids which is missing in the new area. Though I like the quietness of the new area and we are in big house it would be nice to be able to have easier access to London. We like areas with nice places for walks, shopping mall, cinema and a bit more going on than were we are currently.

Any recommendation on a nice family friendly areas in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire, with nice diversed schools for kids and support for ASD in the area? Good access to London would also be preferred.

Thank you
