Crime in rural Oxfordshire East of Bicester

It looks likely we will be moving for DH work and East of Bicester in Oxfordshire looks most sensible.
We were looking at villages and crime figures as part of that and were alarmed to find Arncott, that we liked the look of, has high levels of violent crime and on one site was classed as the 5th most dangerous village in England!
There is a prison not far away but these incidents were not related to that.
Does anyone have any local insight?

I don't know that particular area well but don't live a million miles away. I think I've found the data your looking at and it looks very odd. Hardly any crime at all in any category, except for the violent category. Also no violent crime until 2013, then it slowly goes up from there. There was a big army barracks around there and as you say, the prison. I would guess that either the violent crime was linked to one of these two things, or there have been changes in the the way crime is recorded which has made violent crime seem more prevalent than it actually is, or the data is just plain wrong. East Oxfordshire is not a dangerous place to live
