Just moved into new house with a 4 door Aga - top tips please?

While I don't have the big four oven one, much of the same will hold...

Don't use the boiling plate too much if you want the oven to retain a high temperature.

Do use the cold shelf above your dish if you need a lower temperature in an otherwise slightly too hot oven.

Do be aware that with an AGA you won't smell things burning!

How your AGA will react to being turned off and on (e.g. for the summer) will depend on how it is fuelled. Electric / solid fuel / gas / oil all take different treatment.

AGA's are not like a regular oven - but they are rewarding when you realise what they are best at. Nothing beats AGA toast, or a casserole / slow roast joint (like brisket) done in the AGA.

Don't leave the lids up as it will lose heat.

Brilliant for drying your washing.

Get pads for the tops as it will stop them scratching.
