Moving near a market town in Lincolnshire

Wanted a quiet place to be . Two miles from a market town. House utterly perfect but worried about noise from town. I embrace a lot of the advantages of a local town. Any thoughts ?

You're living two miles from town but worried about noise from it? Not sure I understand.

Sorry, explained myself badly! No coffee yet. I am planning to move there. Not sure if it will seem busy/ noisy at that sort of distance.

Two miles should be far enough to avoid town noises like pub turning out time and chattering people - traffic noise rather depends on the roads you are near.

Unless you have bionic hearing.

Probably depends how close you are to the main road?
Lincolnshire’s road network is sparse in some areas!

AtlasPine · 28/01/2021 09:18

What noise are you worried about?

What sort of noise? When we visited BIL in Lincolnshire years ago, I was often deafened by planes low overhead — is there an RAF base somewhere?

Thank you for your replies. I suppose general life in town noises i.e. Schools, people, town traffic. There is a pretty thick wood between the house and town (6,000 people)

Are you in a position to go there at several different times of day and check it out? Trouble is, I guess, things aren’t really normal now.

No, the property is hours away

2 miles should be pretty silent OP, I grew up in rural Lincolnshire and it’s pretty quiet except for a few tractors!

Yes, there are several.
