Hi,
Wondering if anyone out there can help me? Husband is being relocated for work and we're looking at properties in Spalding. Family members have mixed reviews on Spalding. What is it really like? We have two small children. Schools look really good on Ofsted?!
Thanks in advance :)

Lots of retired Essex people move up there because it is cheap. My father and two uncles did. There is nothing there. It is a nightmare to get there. I just never liked it. For young people I would imagine the long term employment prospects are poor. House prices are reasonable but then it’s difficult to move away.

Well, there are a few things there. Ayscoughfee Hall, Spalding Gentlemen’s Society (old antiquarian society), and lovely houses for cheap, but it is pretty quiet/not much to do. A few very wealthy but a lot of deprivation, and flat as a pancake landscape. It was nicer when there was a tulip festival, but that is long gone. I’d try a place like Stamford, or if you want just to be in Lincolnshire, a market town in the Lincolnshire Wolds?

That said, Spalding Grammar is great, but Lincolnshire as a whole has excellent grammars.

We have been looking at some old comments about people moving into Spalding and was wondering if views have changed in the last few years! Back in 2020 it didn’t have great reviews
thanks

Buying house in Splading,

Hi all, I’m considering purchasing a new build, two-bedroom house in Quadring, Spalding, and I’d appreciate your insights on the area. Currently, I plan to rent the property out, with the intention of moving there in about five years. I’ve been informed that i can rent the property easy for £830 and is an area that has very good schools. Any opinion or information is much appreciated as im trying to get as much information as i can TIA
