I'm a single mum with a 5 year old and we both love the ocean and dream of living near the coast in a more rural setting with a good community. I grew up on the west coast of Wales near Aberystwyth and moved to Bristol for university and never left. I feel torn as we have family in Wales and also near Exeter, and Bristol is a good halfway solution between the two, but the estuary doesn't cut it for us. I love Wales as I feel a real sense of wild Celtic spirit there (we love Cornwall for the same reason!) but I wonder if East Devon coast has the same feeling?!
We need:
• No more than 1.5 hour commute to Bristol (my DC dad lives here and sees him every other weekend)
• Close to coast (within 10-15mins)
• Close-ish to a town/city for work/culture
• Green/liberal community spirit
Any thoughts/opinions or advice would be much appreciated!
