Sorry this is probably controversial.. but here goes anyway...

Ok so there's Brighton that's tolerant. But where else?

We are in London at the moment and craving the sea... need somewhere commutable. We love Kent to visit but it's just so UKIPPY 🇬🇧
Any (serious) ideas?

No way can you commute daily from
West Wittering or Chichester....

lljkk · 12/01/2019 12:20

I live in a high UKIP area. I understand the aversion.

Mookatron · 12/01/2019 12:22

Bournemouth is quite UKIPpy.

HoraceCope · 12/01/2019 12:26

Does it matter if some people are Ukkipy, not everyone will be

Tonsilss · 12/01/2019 12:27

Teignmouth possibly

Spicylolly · 14/01/2019 14:21

We've just moved to Hastings, really lovely and friendly here. House prices are reasonable too. Bexhill, Bexhill on sea, Winchelsea Beach and Rye are all lovely too

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 14/01/2019 14:27

My dad who is the patron saint of UKIP lives one stop from Whitstable, in Faversham. FYI, it's a pretty Tory/depressed area with lots of DLs.... Probably Canterbury would be safer, better schools but not so near the sea.... I used to meet people that lived in Margate on the train and I do not know how they did it...... How about just getting air bnbs for a while and discovering.

UKIP was started by the MP from Tavistock, Roger Knapman with Kilroy Silk, Totnes is near the sea in Devon with an alternative community.

Shame about UKIP. Haven't spoken to my dad in years. Just so full of hate and anger...

Tonsilss · 14/01/2019 16:52

Kent will be dire after Brexit.

cushionfiend · 09/02/2019 12:54

My father lives in Bexhill and used to be a Tory but voted UKIP in last elections, sigh. But his friends all vote Labour and they are all in St Leonards just down the road, it seems a nice place with a good arts scene, lots of independent shops etc. Getting pricey now though, Bexhill a lot cheaper for property still.

Thanks for the suggestions. Please keep them coming.

I am amused by the posters finding my wish to avoid intolerance intolerant 👍

Perhaps Hastings

NameChanger22 · 12/02/2019 22:04

I went to Margate once and developed a ukippy rash all over. It's what made me become a vegan. I still have nightmares.

Did you grow an unnecessarily long beard too namechanger?
