Hi, we are currently in Bexley and would like to move to somewhere a bit greener. I will continue to drive to work so that's not an issue but DD currently at school doing A levels. Ideally would like to be not too far from a train station on the Bexley train line.

Well, you must know that line only goes as far as Dartford and Gravesend. If you've been to Bluewater you've got some idea of what it's like. Not enough of an improvement to be worth the hassle of a move and longer school journeys, IMO. Wouldn't it be better to wait until dd has finished school, then move further out?

And I believe there are proposals for substantial development around Bluewater/Swanscombe, altho' I don't know what the current situation is with those.

I thought there was a connection to go a bit further by changing at Dartford? Pretty sure we once went down to Gillingham by train once.

Yes, you can get to Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham, but if your dd will still be at school in Bexley, how long a journey will she want? And how much time waiting around on the station at Dartford on cold winter days? (Been there, done that.)

Parts of Rochester are nice, and within walking distance of the station, but I don't know if it's significantly 'greener'. Depends exactly where in Bexley you currently are, I suppose. Parts are more leafy than others.

And if your drive to work will take you along the A2, you'll need to consider traffic issues.

Not saying moving to Rochester is a bad idea, just wonder whether this would be the right time.
