Help!!Thinking of moving to Bromley South!! Yay or Nay???

Hi Mumsnetters,

My DH and DD (2 years) both live and work in London but have found a lovely house in Bromley South and have read a lot of reviews about the area but have gotten a lot of mixed messages.

We just need your honest opinion about the area , is it family orientated? are the people friendly? what is the social life like? what is it like at night? what is the local mall like? Also I heard Bromley has very good primary schools and secondary schools in the area, please provide names. My DD will need to go into nursery at least until 5, do you know of any highly recommended nurseries?

This is a very big decision and we want to get it right as it would be a home which we would want to live in for a long while and grow our family in.

I know this is longggg....but please help where you can.

umm- It's hardly "rural living"

It's OK. Are you from the US? The "mall" is more of a shopping centre, with bog standard shops you get everywhere else- Boots, Dorothy Perkins, Primark etc.

I wouldn't move there personally. It's a bit too far from London, but not rural or cheap enough for a real lifestyle change. I prefer the zone 2/3 suburbs.

If you're in London pop down and take a look, go shopping, get a feel for the place. Where is the house you're looking at?

Bromley is definitely not rural! It's suburban. Most areas are fairly smart. The shopping centre is a bit down at heel these days but still has a decent selection of shops.

Ha ha it is not rural by any stretch of the imagination!! I'm in Sundridge Park just up the road. I hate Bromley town centre but the commute is good, and Dcs are in a very good school so I can cope with it.

Bromley south by the way is only zone 5, the Bromley north branch line is zone 4. Where do you need to commute to?
