Transferring 10 years of USS into TPS- good idea or not?

Looking for some advice please. My first 2 jobs were in pre-92 Universities so I have 10 years pension in the USS pension scheme. I'm 52 now, and have 16 years in the TPS pension scheme, as I'm now at a post-92 University and hope to remain there til I retire. I got a statement today from USS which made me realise that TPS is much better now. TpS has recently changed so I have a 12 month opportunity to transfer my USS pension into the TPS. It seems like a no brainer - is it?

You'd need details of how the transferred benefits would be valued, and whether you're losing out on anything like a lower retirement age in the older pension.

Are you on Facebook? There's a brilliant group on there for teachers who are thinking of retiring/retired.

It's called Teacher Pensions - Teqcher to Teacher (U.K.) and lots of brilliant advice on there, particularly from David Fountain who's a retired maths teacher with a passion for everything TPS.

He's given me some great advice.

He also has loads of of YouTube videos too.
