I am a grown woman, yet I have a teenage crush on someone. Smack it out of me please.

I feel like a complete eejit, I am practically at the stage of writing K. I. S. S. I. N. G rhymes and doodling hearts all over my exercise book with our initials linked with a 4. (ok it's a little more x rated than that)

I am single, with children. He is someone who has done some work on my house. He is the first person I have felt an attraction to in years; I shut down that side of myself when with exh.

We always chat and banter when we see each other but I am almost certain there is nothing behind it from his POV; he is just a friendly person. I don't even know if he is single yet here I am mooning over him like a teenager.

I am also ovulating which is Not Helping. I just need to get a grip

See now you are not helping, I asked you to smack it out of me and instead I get encouragement

Ah but you didn't check out your audience properly... I'm single (recently) with no life and have to live vicariously through others. I was drawn to your post like a moth to a flame!

I have two possibilities around and got lovely valentine stuff from one (Professor of Anthropology woohoo but also started primary school the same day I did so have known him all my life - don't really fancy him although did, ahem, get to "knom him better" about 10 years ago). The other will have flowers sorted for delivery tomorrow and he would be ideal if I just bloody fancied him. Which I don't.

Soooo, if you think I'm letting up when there's a hint of romance in the air on Valentine's weekend you'll be disappointed!!

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/02/2010 21:43

"know him better" - not sure what "knom" him would be and not sure I want to think about it!

AnyFucker · 13/02/2010 21:44

nom nom nom

hehe

Operation · 13/02/2010 21:47

Pah at least you have options

So, shall I send you his number (now I really am acting like a teenager)

AF, I can remember a great deal about ONE incident nearly 15 years ago (now I come to think about it). Hmmmm, maybe I should give him another go?!

Operation · 13/02/2010 21:48

lol at knom, didn't even notice the typo(have gin)

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 13/02/2010 21:50

belle, have you been at the gin ?

however, if you are single, your arse is your own, innit ?

just make sure it ain't frying pan----> fire

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/02/2010 21:50

Operation it's like the choice between the last two chocolates - one is orange cream and one is strawberry. You don't want either of them but you know you'll probably cave in and have one of them (or both)!

Soooo, what does he look like; what does he sound like; why do you like him? Tell, tell, tell!

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/02/2010 21:55

AF, it certainly is... But, it's a bit odd because he's liked me for years and years. He appeals to me in all sorts of ways but I'm a bit scared off by other things. He's a vegetarian and has principles for goodness sake!

The other one really would be ideal if I could just work myself into fancying him. Oh, I've tried. How I have tried! I could even move to Cheshire with that one!!!

AnyFucker · 13/02/2010 22:01

principles ??? how bloody awful...bin that one

cheshire ?? now that would be ok...'cos we could be nearly neighbours

Operation · 13/02/2010 22:01

Tall (ok I am 5'2 so he might not be that tall but is to me), brown hair (currently shaved but has had all sorts including a green mohican) good body(but not too perfect iyswim), v friendly and chatty, big grins, chats to my kids and shows them what he is doing (makes me think maybe he is a dad though), just seems really genuine, can imagine him having a big noisy extended family

OP posts:
Operation · 13/02/2010 22:04

Note I wouldn't mind him being a dad but would mind a significant other

Flightattendant · 13/02/2010 22:08

Oh lord I have a non-fancying one too...dull isn't it.

However I have now figured out WHY I have never been able to force my tiny wee brain to fancy him. It's because he is not really grown up, and has no gravity (I think that's the word my mother used - is it? No it's not...never mind)

gravitas perhaps? Something like he makes an impression, is serious, has self respect and would stand up if you pushed him...rather than falling over in a cardboard-like manner.

LOL at knom btw

No, Belle, if you do not fancy him, trust me there is something missing, it's your subconscious warning you. It really is. I tried for about 20 years! And am SO glad my subconscious won! It is not about you, you see, when it's a guy like that - it's all about him, and you just represent his mother, really...terrible shame.

Flightattendant · 13/02/2010 22:09

Ooh Green hair! Blimey.

i think we want you to date this bloke just so we can find out what other interesting bits he has.

Flightattendant · 13/02/2010 22:10

Sounds gorgeous btw, especially if nice to your children. I always think that is an essential box-ticker.

Flightattendant · 13/02/2010 22:11

Plus, Belle, he would not make you bacon sarnies. Or is that the other one?

shockers · 13/02/2010 22:13

Why don't you ask him if he has any children? That would just sound like you are interested because you're a mum. If he has you could ask about what they're doing at the weekend, that sort of thing. If he's separated, it may come out during conversation.
(just realised that last bit sounds rude!)

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/02/2010 22:18

shockers - that's what I'm hoping for (after a decent interval and lots of romantic dates, of course)!

Op - I think he sounds lovely and shockers's idea is excellent. You must need him to do ^something" around the place, surely?

FA - neither are ideal. I don't want someone who worships me or has had a stupid crush for years. I want someone who knows me and still wants me. Unlikely but a girl can dream.

AF - keep that magic weaving! I even wore a tiny bit of make-up and did my hair before bloody Tumble Tots this morning because it's now at sports centre and there are loads of interesting looking chaps around. I need to get a grip of something firm.

Operation · 13/02/2010 22:19

I like that idea shockers, also like the idea of "it" coming out

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/02/2010 22:21

And, I'm now off to bed - occupied as ever by my DD (2.5). Just as well there isn't a queue of interesting men trying to get me into it!

Operation, thank you for a lovely, hopeful thread. I hope he's single and turns out to be perfect for you.

Night all. x
