... for a couple of weeks, how regularly would you expect him to phone home? Just trying to get a sense of what might be 'normal' ..!

Once a day (usually try to time it so he can speak to the dc's)

He's usually away Sunday - Friday

If he's bored he'll text/email me.

Anything from once a day by email or phone to upto 3 weeks at worse. But then my hubby does not always have access to a phone or internet for weeks on end when he is away.

But even when he is in the UK away on a course for a week or 2 he does not calll home every night if he is busy studying. Maybe twice a week! But I know how to get hold of him if I needed to in an emergency or something.

dh or I are usually apart Mon-Fri. Either he's on location or I am.
As we're in business together some days we can talk briefly about work 6-7 times a day.
We only talk personally once a day in the evening.
What gets me though, is when I'm away I phone every night at 6pm to speak to the boys. Dh has never ever rung just to speak to them.

Damn, how can i get one of these jobs for my OH!!!! I'd love the bed to myself just once

I travel a fair bit for my job, leaving DH at home holding the fort (he hates travel). I can be away for anything from 1 night to 2 weeks (I refuse to do longer trips). We talk at least twice a day (roughly morning and evening) and I try to talk to DS at least once a day, although time zones can make this tricky. I cannot imagine NOT talking to them every day, it would be awful!
