am I too picky?

Not that I've had many offers since having bean, but I think I might be a bit too hard to please when it comes to men. I have broken up with, or refused to date in the first place, some really nice guys for some really stupid reasons.

writing text messages in annoying shorthand
being unable to write with a fountain pen
saying 'sort of thing' in every sentence
wanting to hold hands all the time
Not owning ANY books that I had read
wearing jeans that were a bit too short

is anyone else this picky? will I end up sad and alone?

Orginally I said I agreed with you about too short jeans - but then I remembered that I dated dh despite him wearing blazers / sports jackets with garish yellow checks on them which made him horribly middle aged before his time. He doesn't wear these any more - mens clothing is 'trainable'.

I'm totally not ready for a relationship! But I think I should be.

I'm just going to carry on being picky, mr perfect will turn up eventually. he'd better turn up before bean leaves home, I hate living by myself!

I think sometimes we use these excuses because we also can't put our finger on the 'thing' that doesn't feel right.
You may well meet somebody else who can't write with a fountain pen but he may have qualites this one didn't have.
Remember what is perfect for one will not be perfect for another.

I think your 'pickiness' is commendable beansmum and I just wish I had taken a leaf out of your book and been a bit pickier on occasion (sort of thing)!
