Old love letters

I just found this old email from DP from 2001

Hello you.

Tuesday night's been on my mind. Feel like we ventured into the deep country of the heart. Became the only two people on Earth, looking at the world like we'd never seen it before, like gazing on Eden. Adam and Eve, melting into one spirit, a singularity through which a new universe is born. And if we wonder what is this that dwarves the world and makes us feel we have the hearts of giants ? We know the answer. Love and nothing else.

Yours, glowing...

I'd forgotten he was so poetic! LOL

why's it wrong for her to post something nice about her dh?

i would hardly call it disloyal

at least it's better than mt saying her h has been a prick and she is sitting in tears at the pc

noddyholder · 18/06/2009 12:08

I think its great You are mad when you are in love like that. You have missed out if you haven't written a cringeworthy letter or made a drunken late night ott declaration of love. Not disloyal at all.I keep all that stuff and dp stills sends me stuff like that 18 yrs on.

daftpunk · 18/06/2009 12:12

way over the top...plus emails arn't really romantic are they?....you want a proper letter..

lowenergylightbulb · 18/06/2009 12:15

I've got all my love letters from DH sorted into chronological order, tied up with a velvet ribbon and stored in a posh box

Every now and then we get them out and read through them, it's nice reliving the 'madly in love' phase.

Tortington · 18/06/2009 12:16

Kappel

ridingjoker · 18/06/2009 12:18

i've got a box with old love letters from the past. and i do occasionally stumble across it when looking for something else.

i cant resist having a read everytime.

Disenchanted3 · 18/06/2009 12:19

Urgh God

thats awful

sorry.

I have all DHS love letters from when we were 15

cyteen · 18/06/2009 12:25

My best friend had a boyfriend who went away to university and wrote her the most pretentious teen-angst love letters. She used to read out the best bits to all of us during breaktime I'm sure he never intended his heartfelt emo-wank to be cackled over by hordes of shrieking schoolgirls.

Another schoolyard acquaintance had a boyfriend who thought it was romantic to write to her that he missed her so much 'my arm is growing tired'

lowenergylightbulb · 18/06/2009 12:25

We lived apart (opposite ends of the country) for about 2 years and wrote to each other every day Another cracking line DH wrote was 'and now I shall drift into the land of dreams where you dwell eternally...'

Nowadays the only notes we write are 'gone to collect DS, can you put rubbish out' and we're too knackered to drift into sleep, we fall into a coma each night!

That is so lovely!

Completely overblown but that's how love should be! My DH wrote me a poem that was sooo awful! I'll post it if I can find it.

Thing is he "googled" love poems on the internet, came up with a bunch of results then cut and paste them together! So basically I was reading a bit of Keats, a bit of Shakespeare and bit of Bronte. He's such a cheat. He's dyslexic (undiagnosed but I think I'm correct) so found it sweet that he'd gone to such an effort.

noddyholder · 18/06/2009 13:55

I agree if it isn't awful then its awful iygwim!

triggerhappybaby · 18/06/2009 14:21

mumsie as an aside I think my DP is an undiagnosed dyslexic too - he won't have it - but he looks at an unfamiliar words, finds an approximate familiar word from his brainbank, and uses that one instead. I shouldn't laugh but some of them have been hysterical, total non sequiturs.

I think it's lovely to get flowery romantic shit like that - as peeps have said it certainly doesn't last forever! Needless to say DP never wrote me owt like that

monkeytrousers · 18/06/2009 17:18
