Do you 'match' your DP/DH physically?

Oh the things you ponder on a quiet afternoon when the baby is napping and you should be working!!!

I was wondering if people usually 'match' the looks of their partners ....
For example ... DH and I match quite well I think. We are both slightly over average height (I am 5'7" ... he is just under 6 foot) ... we are of average build ... neither fat nor skinny.

I have friends who match so perfectly they could be related ... one couple make a striking pair, he is 6'4", she is 6' tall, both dark hair, green eyes ... another couple, both on the short side, stocky with blond hair and blue eyes ...

I once went out with a bloke who was 6'4" and although he was gorgeous (to die for actually) and lovely, I never felt right with him ... I had to stand on tip toes to kiss him and felt like a little girl holding his hand walking down the street ... also sex didn't work that well ... Also, because he was so good looking it felt wrong ...
Not that DH and I are ugly you understand we are nice looking I think but not model material .... but we 'fit' together IYSWIM?

So, do you 'match' your DP/DH ... if so, how? If not, how not?

Hmm we do sort of.

I'm 5'6 and he's 6'3 - but we fit together quite well when cuddling as my head is at his chest.

We are both slim (though I'm fitter than him cos I'm a swim junkie and he's a chocolate junkie )

We are both dark blonde and bluey eyed.

Similar attractiveness I'd say but would be interesting to see what JT thinks.

My ex-b who I was with for 5 yrs was also very similar except we were similar in height as he was only about 5'7ish. I'd say he was better looking than me though - he was very typically good looking and everybody thought so.

Agree, it's conditioning suzy.

Tinker didn't mean to "out" your conditioned views

and I suppose it would be more manly if he could reach the top shelf in the airing cupboard instead of me, but we aren't as mis matched as Tom and Nicole or Tom and that new bird for that matter

DW is 5ft 7" and I'm 6ft 2 and stocky. She says blokes under 6ft do nothing for her. She also loves the fact that I'm so "big" when standing next to her. So we fit in that we go together but not near each other physically.

Also, I'm white and look like a BNP supporter (apparently) and DW is black. We do get double takes, sometimes!

suzy have you been reading those trashy mags again

Really weird as someone said to me when i first started "going out with" (not sure if people still say it either) my husband, OOOO you are so well suited as you look like each other. Not sure if we do but we are similar build, used to have the same hairstyle etc. Men used to pip their horns at us when we we were first together as they thought we were both ladies

Did any of you see that Dr Titainias guide to sex in teh animal kingdom or whatever it wa called last night?

That explained that it is NOT social conditioning that makes a woman look for certian things in a man to have sex with, it is evolutional. We are looking for a man with 'good' genes. That means attractive, strong, intelligent and rich. However if we are looking to marry someone we will compromise on the good looking and concentrate on the rich (provider) status, but still potentailly look for a man on teh side with better genes

It was really funny because it also said that the time of the month changed women's perception of attractiveness and how much they would be likely to stray

Nope I'm very pale 5ft 5 with almost black hair, Dp is 6ft 7 with blondish hair and tanned. He is really stocky and I'm no toothpick so we don't look odd.

Although I do forget how big DP is until new friends DD1 aged 4 asked me this weekend was he a giant FYi i answered yes one which doesn't like naughty children

Cruhcie, yes and har har at the 'attractiveness' scale, I used to have a male friend who would talk about people's 'market value' as in "he really is looking at women well above his market value"
or "she really has no idea how high her market value is, does she?" I do like men to be taller than me, although it's not hard since I'm 5'3 and I once didn't go any further than 1 date with an incredibly (frighteningly actually) clever, interesting, funny man because he was the same height as me as we walked to the tube after dinner, I just couldn't do it. Shallow huh?

my dh is 6ftish i am 5ft and a fart

he has the brightest ginger hair- shaved on a number 1

i have long hair dark brown
he has ice blue eyes
i have dark brown eyes
he has milky skin
i have dark skin

however - personality wise we could be the same person. i have noticed very recently we verbalise what each other has just been thinking
thats very scarey

he has better social skills than me - as in he knows the appropriate forums to say fuck and when not to.

My dh and i are both 6ft, both have short black hair, olive skinned and are both a little on the chunky side!! Many people have said how similar we look and have actually assumed we were siblings... not that i make a habit of snogging my brother you understand!!

Report
kalex · 04/05/2005 18:44

Custy, A fart, {grin]

That really made me smile

DP is 6.1 and I am 5.11. in heels I tower over him.

He is very slender and really fit, I am slender but bordering on curveous, with a DD boson, it would be difficult to be anything else.

Same hair colour and same colouring.

Yes, we are the male and female equivalent of the same model. Makes predicting what our children will look like very easy.

We are both: short, fat, shortsighted, blue eyes, dark hair (except his is nearly black and mine is dark blonde when not died very blonde). My breasts are bigger, though.

knowitall · 04/05/2005 18:53

I am 5'2" and sexually plump and dh is 6'1 and not fat apart from his belly (!). We both have dark hair and blue eyes but I am infinitely better looking than him

We don't match ATALL! I'm 5ft1, dh is 6ft 3. I am very pale skinned, light brown hair, green eyes. Dh is very dark skinned, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes. I am absolutely beautiful, he is incredibly ugly.

(Ok, may have embellished the last statement a little. He is not THAT ugly.....)

DP looks EXACTLY like my older brother - in fact at a family gathering last year another relative mistook him for my brother and had a long and confusing conversation before they realised the mistake.

Freud would LOVE me!
