I caught DP filming us - can't talk to anyone

This is odd and has just knocked me sideways. Been with DP for eleven years and have two DS under five. I work full time, so does DH, thought things were OK in the bedroom but not brilliant, you know how it is, not enough hours, too tired, etc. But last week, after we'd had sex, I found a small hidden camera on our bedside table. Only as big as a pen. When I confronted DH, he said he didn't know why he'd done it, maybe because we didn't have sex as much as he wanted, and it turned him on to watch it later.
I feel completely betrayed. Not hugely self-confident with myself post-kids, feel like it was a violation of our bedroom and wondering why on earth he was doing this. I have no idea what's been going on here.
He's been really upset that I've been so upset. He's offered to go for counselling if I think it will help. I wanted to walk out but don't want to upset my DSs.
Can't talk to family or friends as it's like confessing, yes I married a pervert.
Is it as bad as it seems?

There's something distinctly not right about a man who has a DVD pen. I'm just imagining all the things he could video without anyone knowing.

Does make you wonder if it was just you he wanted to video.

He's betrayed your trust, how far does that betrayal go?

Overmydeadbody · 06/05/2009 14:02

I agree with Rhubarb.

AccioPinotGrigio · 06/05/2009 14:51

Must admit my first thought was he might be thinking of posting it on x-tube. If that is not your thing, and it seems not, you should ask him for reassurance that he isn't posting films of you on the web.

AnyFucker · 06/05/2009 15:03

OP, are you still here ?

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 06/05/2009 15:10

Will anyone ever feel safe having sex with anyone ever again? Not sure I will...

Wigglesworth · 06/05/2009 15:15

Whilst it is very deceitful of him to film you in your most intimate moments without having the decency to ask first, is it really the end of the world? Would you have agreed to it if he had asked first?
I don't think it is perverted if it is kept between the 2 of you and for your eyes only if he is haring these videos with others on the internet then that is totally unacceptable.
If it is just for him to watch and relieve himself to then I would be asking for a full and frank apology and a few weeks of grovelling with a sturdy promise that this sort of shit won't be happening again.

He has abused your trust and it will be difficult for you to trust him again. However, if he has been otherwise a good partner and father and seems genuinely sorry and wants to make amends then that is a positive sign. It might be worth you both going to Relate depending on how you feel.

You need to know what he has done with the films and only you will know if he is telling the truth. Go with your gut and like others have said check the internet history etc on the PC.

Funny, I wonder where the OP went?

It's the sneakiness that makes it dodgy. FWIW my first move would have been to insist on seeing the footage. If it was blurry, dark and incomprehensible then I would let the bloke off with a grovelling apology because it would mean that he'd bought the thing and used it the once and made a mess of it. Perfectly-framed footage with the lights in the right place would suggest a worrying level of expertise.

no it is great
