should i let my ex take the baby abroad on holiday?

My ex wants to take our 11 month old baby on holiday to his friends who live in tenerife. My ex has never had the baby on his own over night and when he has him in the day he almost always has his mum there to help. i am still breastfeeding although trying to wean the baby off, and hope to do so in the next few weeks. I have said no to my ex as i feel the baby is too young to be separated from me. I also think my ex will leave the baby with his friends wife who is a stranger to my baby and just go off on the beer - something my ex denies he will do and this has caused a lot of rows and bad feeling. My ex says i am using the baby as a weapon but i don't think thats true. Any thoughts on the matter please? Am i just being neurotic and over protective?

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.....no. Your baby needs you, it's not as if he'll/she'll remember it is it! You're not being overprotective, your baby isn't a toy he can pick up and put down when he feels like it. You're it's mum. It'll be a week of hell for all of you if you let him do this!

How on earth does he think he will manage a full holiday inc airports and flights if he's never even had baby overnight?
Blimey he is deluded.
Tell him no, but instead of just a flat no, tell him that if he gets baby used to staying with him overnight then progresses to weekend, more nights, then of course he can take baby on hols.
ime children that young don't settle in strange places very easily and would need you even more than usual.

Ds stayed at my parents for 2 days when he was 8 months old so I could have a rest. He screamed/refused to eat for the whole 2 days. When I went to collect him he was a devil child!

God No! The poor baby wouldn't have a clue what was going on or where his mummy had gone.

I wouldn't let my OH take our baby away for a week and we are together and he can look after him (nearly) as well as I can.

God help us it's a child not a toy. What happens if he is drunk and forgets to feed it/change it etc etc. Just no - and don't feel bad about saying no either.

He hasn't even had him overnight and he wants to take him away from you, away from his home, overseas to strangers... for no good reason. What is he on?

Keep breastfeeding.

I was in the same situation with my Dd(27mos), I told her father no, but ended up having to throw in the bfing thing. He wasn't happy, but tough.

Stick to your guns. Why on earth does he want to take a baby on holiday anyway? it's not as if baby can join in with anything much is it?

I think they use the Dc's as trophies to pull women.

NO, the answer is definately NO! If he thinks your using the baby as a weapon, so what, it doesn't really matter what he thinks now anyway. Be clear and concise in telling him NO, don't go into reams of explanation, your answer is NO.
