Name changed. Dp has really bad breath. It has got so bad that its unbearable its effecting our love life as its really off putting. I dont know if its sign of him being unhealthy or he needs to see the hygeinist. I dont have to be next to him to smell it. I dont know how to handle it as DP is very sensitive and takes everything to heart. Im here asking for advice as I dont want to upset him or say anything to anyone that knows my DP. Any suggestions on how to to handle it?

Just to let you know, I have had a similar problem with my dh at times, as he has large teeth and bits of food were getting trapped, and he is also a mouth breather.

I just tell him his breath doesn't smell very nice and if he wants any action he's got to get it fixed.

The proven link between gum disease and heart problems sorted my DH. His breath was getting worse but a dentist rated the state of his gum from 1-4 and he scored worse in all mouth areas! SO off to the dental hygienist and he flosses EVERY DAY! Much better.

I think you are not helping him by avoiding tackling the issue.

Does he work? What do you think his collegues think? His boss? Public, if he works with them?

School? The kids friends?

This isn't something you can ignore, for his sake. He'll be upset, if he's the sensitive type, of course. But better that than going round stinking. You have to think what others are thinking too, you don't want him to be laughed at/sneered at/avoided, do you?

Far better it comes from you, than someone else says something very blunt indeed!

If my hubby doesn't drink enough fluids or eat regularly his breath is rotten!!

I actually tell him his breath smells, I know it sounds cruel but I think its better he knows than other people thinking he stinks!!
