All because I'm finally sorting out all the old clothes that have been up in the loft for ages!! Won't be having any more little ones but it certainly brings back all the memories of what they looked like in them - tried to get DS1 to fit into the 6-9 month baby grow but just wouldn't work. Put a few favourite things away and trying to find some good homes for all the rest.

I'm not surprised she was upset, it's like the end of an era puting all those little sleepsuits away forever

Was she annoyed with you or just tearful?

if it is upsetting, then don;t get rid of the clothes.. i think it is a normal thing to be upset that your child bearing days are over.. i am the same, my last and youngest is 3.4 and i still have travel cot, travel system and all her baby clothes. not ready to part with them yet. have a little reminisce together over teh clothes ?

Have a reminisce, find some photos of the DCs wearing favourite clothes, keep maybe one or two favourites for each child, then GET RID!

You don't say how old your youngest is, so maybe it's too soon, in which case leave it another 6 months or so.

I would be upset as well. As others have said try to keep some favourites, have you made up yet? Giver her a cuddle (this is all I need if DH has been a little unsensitive with me)

I have to do this, I tried a few months ago and could smell DD3 on the tiny clothes and couldn't go through with it

I've still got one of dd's outfits from when she was a newborn (she's now 7½) and I consider myself to unsentimental!

Ahh you mean so well but I am afraid this is just one of those things that is probably never going to be well received by (most) mothers.

Youngest is 3 now and there can be no more from me at least - we have to make do with the 4 DSs. Have got some favs kept to one side - but had to be a little tough - also got sentimental too but can't believe how much more space we have in the loft .

When I had my DD, my mother offered me 20 of MY and my sisters' old baby and toddler dresses. I am 41 years old and my mother has hung onto these dresses through 7 house moves.

It's normal to feel sentimental, though my mother may have overdone it.

We had to clear our loft out last week and i'm afraid i am the same. My kids are 14 n 9 and although i did get rid of a lot of clothes, they have a box each in the loft with all my favourite baby outfits in.Looking at them last week i can remember when they wre worn and they are a part of our history that i cannot part with. I kept all the baby blankets, muslims, cot sheets everything.
The pram and cot are still there as well, with the date they were brought on the boxes.
I did looka bit of a saddo sat there smelling the clothes, but it is surprising what a little babygro or pair of socks can do to a woman. Hubby doesn't feel the same about them, although he did say ahh (only to humour me i'm sure.
How much room can a box of memories take up? Let her keep them.

I must be a CHB! I've kept one babygro and one pair of tiny socks for each of my two Dcs, but the rest went ASAP! I needed the room too SDD!

i have to do this.but it is upsetting.id prefer it if dh did it i think but id still get upset.

I thought you were going to go on to say you found some of her old size zero jeans and then said "My but aren't you fat old bag now, since having DCs" sort of thing.

I have about 3 things for each. The rest gone before our second (and last) was two.
