DH is droning on and on and on and I'm looking at him and nodding while I type this, save me from this monologue hell.

For better for worse?

In the words of Jim Royle - my Arse!

Anyone have an opinion on the politics of salmon netting versus line-fishing?

No?

Thought not.

Posh - if it is golf, my stock standard questions are 'How were the greens?' and 'Was it a nice course?' Doesn't matter where in the golf droning it is said, it shows a little amount of interest without having to atually listen to the answer

You'd think I'd have learned by now.

He's off to the kitchen - there is a promise of tea hanging unspoken in the air, and guilt beckons....

Bath is running ....

I have it worse you know.

DH works in IT. I once, just once, never more than once, asked how his day was. 3 (I kid you not) 3 hours later he stopped speaking. I genuinely tried to listen but only understood about 20% of the phrases he was using and wanted to gouge my own eyes out with a nail file.

Since then I've never bothered to ask. He thinks I clearly couldn't give monkey's chuff about what he does all day and he's pretty much right

Wilki - at least your Dh sounds good at golf. My Dh is shit and I feign interest as yet again he loses.

Threadworm, I'm going to hunt you down and give you a Chinese burn.

I actually laughed out loud at that.

I'm doing a bit of explaining now, on the ground s that direct debits aren;t that funny

I usually peer over my glasses and say 'are you still talking'

or I tell him he gets more and more like his mum every day - another huge droner on and on about nothing that always shuts him up

actually, i do have an opinion on salmon netting v line fishing.
first one is baaaad.
second one is better but still not enough stocks to sustain populations. we are nearly all fished out. its terrible.

i love fish an all.
