since my H left us I have been trying really hard to get our lives back together. Tomorrow i am interviewing for a job for the first time in 6 years!! It is a really big job. It would make a huge difference to us if I get it as I wouldnt have to rely on H or worry about supporting us or what might be coming next. Am really nervous, which is quite unusual for me as i'm normally quite a cool cucumber. Wish me luck everyone

Good luck and remember to be yourself, not what you think they want you to be. And smile a lot! Try and see it as you wanting to find out more about the job to see if YOU want it, rather than whether they want you. Hope you get it.

Good Luck. Have you run through a list of possible questions they might ask you? If you haven't had an interview for a while it's always worth going through the answers aloud. The one's I think worth having an answer ready for :
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
How do you deal with stress , difficult customers, collegues in the work place?
What makes you the best person for us to employ for this job?

The answers to these questions if they come up are often the deciding factor when more than one candidate is good.

IllegallyBrunette · 17/11/2008 19:13

Good luck, whats the job ?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 17/11/2008 19:14

Thanks for the questions. I have done hours of prep on everything that I can think of and i have 2 hours on the train tomorrow to go through my notes. The job is for MD of a new company and there are 5 on the shortlist. I think my biggest weakness is that I am a 40 something single parent but I am hoping they dont notice that one as they are not allowed to ask

My favourite what is your weakness answer is "I am a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes that means taking time to go over detail, but I appreciate that it is not always possible and therefore I see it can be seen as a weakness, however when that happens I get to use another strength which is thinking on my feet."

DisasterArea · 17/11/2008 20:44

you don't have weaknesses, just challenges to be overcome with hard work.
