So yet again it seems I have made a friend who is prettier and better at everything than me...

I know I should be grateful that I'm at least meeting people and they want to be friends (or, well, she says she does anyway ) but I've just been looking at her facebook pictures and she is really really pretty, her dh is pretty fit too (i don't fancy him - I'm being objective) her children are divinely cute, her wedding pictures look like they had the perfect ceremony and her friends are all "the beautiful people" IYSWIM.

And yes - I do realise that people only put the "nice" pictures up of themselves - but even the pictures her friends have put up are of her and them looking beautiful and serene. Whereas the pictures my friends put up of me are me lapping up a pint of Guinness looking dead rough and so on (I don't mind, I think it's quite funny in a way).

I didn't really know where to post this - in mental health (but it's not really a MH issue) or in Chat (because I know it's really a blatant attention seeking load of crap!) or AIBU - to think my friends are all prettier and more successful than me?

Pathetic, aren't I?

Sd, what a lovely post by MADAMant (sp). I often think mumsnet is like being at school, the teacher starts a discussion, you have an answer but are too shy to stick your hand up (ooh misses) then some other more confident kid says exactly what you wanted to say and gets noticed. .

theSuburbanDryad · 24/10/2008 23:13

MadamAnt - There is a picture of me licking a pint of Guinness further down the thread!

(You may lose respect for me at this point! )

Fab photo. Excellent composition. I assume the pint nearest me is for my own licky consumption.

theSuburbanDryad · 24/10/2008 23:31

Yes indeedy MadamAnt!

SUD, you have fabulous big brown eyes and I love your frame! I am on ML at the moment and badly need new glasses but getting some would involve going in to work and I don't want to leave my baby-bubble! So my Roberto Cavallis are slipping down my nose, the MAR is wearing off, I can't have my hair done as I just had a minor op on my scalp so I look terrible! Does that make you feel better?
Added to this, I just visited my friend today who is prettier and skinnier than me, lives in the same style house as mine but hers is much tidier and more tastefully decorated AND she has just had a new extension so she now has the kick-ass kitchen I can only dream of! And dh is out at the pub with his Dad and brother and I have no wine!

chipmonkey - those are my really old specs! They were just cheapo ones from Specsavers (except they weren't cheap cause of my 1.74 thing going on! Grr...) I've got my spangly new Milkis and You's ones now - except that because I've randomly developed a 1.00cyl in my LE I've had to have an old pair reglazed! Madness!!

One of my more-pretty-and-successful-than-me-friends is my neighbour, so I totally get where you're coming from with the nice house. They've just had a new carpet put in and they've got all lovely ornaments everywhere! AND they've got a little boy a few months younger than ds - so I can't even blame it on the fact that they've not got kids!

Oh, is the cyl just a pregnancy thing, I wonder?

yummybunnymummy · 26/10/2008 11:02

some people say I look like olive from off the buses....
(cry....sob)...can't speak

serenity · 26/10/2008 11:10

You're all so damn young and thin

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:11

Serenity, are you on my facebook?

twinsetandpearls · 26/10/2008 11:13

she can't be on mine either LostProphet.

Yummybunny I get I look like a cross between Miss Piggy and Jamie Oliver.

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:16

Lol I was meaning for general interest rather than the thin and pretty, but that too

Miss Piggy and Jamie Oliver?!!?! I love that photo of you and your DD btw. I have one of DD kissing me, and it is that same feeling of completeness that comes at you from your pic

twinsetandpearls · 26/10/2008 11:18

Feeling of completeness is a good way if putting it.

LP - I don't think so? I've only got a few MNers, and they were ones I happened to have email addresses for. Quite happy to add more though, I'm just exceedingly lazy and not that good at touting for friends

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:25

me me me - I can send you clips of Dean n everything I am going to try and hunt you down from SUD's list...

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:27

Nah, i have no idea who you are

serenity · 26/10/2008 11:27

The pictures of me on fb are fricking awful (I don't do photos for a very good reason, but there are still far too many floating about)

serenity · 26/10/2008 11:30

Hang on, let me see if I can find you.

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:30

My norks are fairly easy to find

serenity · 26/10/2008 11:37

I think I've found you - your profile picture is the same as the one on your LostProphets profile?

No norks so far.......

SheikYerBATi · 26/10/2008 11:42

I feel like this at work.

I work with a bunch of skinny minnies who are all childless. I walk in with my ample bottom, spots, scarecrow hair, wobbling stomach; you get the picture.

I try to block it all out, but it doth not work.

Most of my school-friends on FB have aged far better then me and all have fantastically successful careers and perfect lives.

I have come to the conclusion that I was put on earth just to make up the numbers

Tis pooo.

BTW, I love your Guinness pic - you are my kind of girl.

LostProphet · 26/10/2008 11:51

the norks are more visible on the full pics

serenity · 26/10/2008 12:05

Yes, yes they are
