Anyone else's parents becoming increasingly insular in retirement?

Because my ILs are.
I love them dearly and they used to be such liberal thinkers, btu jeezo, spending the mornign with them is like hearing the Daily Mail being read aloud.
They honestly can't see anything outside their little world.
It is driving me insane.
DH says just to ignore them, but I CAN'T.

Am I normal or over-sensitive?

Hmmm-insular?Islanded,cut off from the world-nope I don't think so but 'set in our ways'-yep we have been setting for over half a century so I guess we know where we are.Politically dh is right of centre and I am left of centre but we know roughly where we think the centre is iyswim.
We have sedate European holidays now but also enjoy narrow boating and exploring [by car].We quite like tea shop[pe]s and antique fairs where we can say,"Fancy we had one of those at home!"
I love looking after dgc,I collect Playmobil and love Sylvanian Families. We spend more than we should on model railways[him] and the dolls' house [me].We have a huge library of books and love entertaining. Insular...maybe but very happy with it.30+ years as teacher/lecturer left us ready for our version of peace.
