What do you do with your partner of a night/when you have 'couple' time?

and no I don't mean sex! lol.

things are going swimmingly no probs but beau & I don't want to get into a rut already - ie watching DVD's in doors/bath together/his local when we can/walking in town.

we've had a scrabble night but think he got fed up.
we're going to pick a recipe out and cook it together, & he's suggesting walks in the park etc.

we don't have much quality time ( mostly it;s evenings when DS is in bed)

so what do u do?

I haven't had a couples night in ages! But usually we watch tv as we both love the same programmes really (eg Heroes, we both get very excited over that). We play the Wii or PS3 and have Guitar Hero battles or go and shoot zombies together (very romantic that one). We talk, either just about a load of crap or serious talks where we discuss the future and the past and everything in between... Or he plays a game/watches telly, whilst I'm on the net or playing the DS. Or we both go to bed and just read lol.

But I like the suggestion of Twister lol. We have a Twister bedcover... lmao. And having a bath/shower together is good fun too

If we manage to get out of the house we go for dinner, or drinks, or a long walk. Sometimes we go to comedy shows or catch some live music. We go to a pub quiz once a week.

If we're home, we often go to bed early and snuggle up in bed to watch tv together. We chat all the time in any case. We ought to sit outside more in the evenings, we always find it relaxing when we do but we get lazy like everyone I suppose.

this rather frantic examination of " couple time" makes me feel like dry rethcing tbh

whty does it have to be so orchetrated?
does a hooter sound and all hapless husbands are coralled into enjoying" couple time" through gritted teeth w hen in reality theyd prefer a ncie session on setanta and fwere scented canldes and bath gubbins

oh fgs dont even answer that

anorak · 04/10/2008 14:57

Yeah cod I know what you mean.

I like just being in the same room with my DH even if we're doing different things.

NotCod · 04/10/2008 14:58

dh in soncserv
me in livign rom

" dh are you alrught?"

" yes fine, you?"

" yes"

there
couple time

tammybear · 04/10/2008 14:59

Oh I agree with anorak. We never set out to make time for ourselves. It's just spur of the moment thing depending on how we're feeling. But it's nice just to be together even if we're not together doing stuff.

GobbledigookisThrifty · 04/10/2008 15:01

What do we do in the evenings?

I go out with my friends while he stays in

He goes out with friends or plays football while I stay in

We watch the programmes we both like together

I go on hte computer while he watches his stuff

He goes on the computer while I watch my stuff

Sometimes we go out for dinner but that's usually with other couples

We don't really do walking the park holding hands

GobbledigookisThrifty · 04/10/2008 15:02

As for bath together - er no thanks. He's 6'3 so there's nto much room in there with him in it and when I go in the bath I take a glass of wine and lock the door thanks very much

NotCod · 04/10/2008 15:03

im with GGG

GobbledigookisThrifty · 04/10/2008 15:06

hughjarssss · 04/10/2008 15:07

EEEWWWWW to bathing together!

Our evenings sound pretty much like GG TBH

FrockHorror · 04/10/2008 15:18

We tend to do our maths homework, having just started doing GCSE maths at college together .

Or if we aren't doing that, he ponces around with radios, bits of paper useless blokey stuff and I sit on the pc or sleep.

jumpingbeans · 04/10/2008 15:23

forget the "couples time", i just want "me" time - watch shite on telly if i want to, read without being accused of ingoring him, turn the lights off and listen to silly love songs, without some knob putting on the big light and rustling the newspaper, oh yes me time all the time is sounding better and better

Tanee58 · 04/10/2008 17:22

Lol so someone still plays D&D!!!!

We like having a 'picnic' - starts with cocktails sometimes, but always some wine, and things we can just graze on - dips, nibbles, smoked salmon. Play music, LOTS of candles and just talk till the early hours. Before we moved in together we could only do this at weekends, and as DP didn't have a proper table at his flat, we spread out on the floor - hence 'picnic'. It's still a special treat when DD's out - she's waiting for the day we burn the house down with all those candles. We're keeping Ikea in business !

themoon66 · 04/10/2008 19:16

We watch stuff we've recorded through the week but been too busy to watch. We drink wine.

Tonight we are alone and I'm MNing and DH is doing dinner. We are going out in half an hour to a jive in the village hall.

Talk

Listen to music

Cook and eat

Watch The Wire or Six Feet Under

Tanee58 · 06/10/2008 11:56

Fully agree it shouldn't be orchestrated. And ideally, we should all have partners who make us die laughing, and who we enjoy talking with .

We sometimes have a laugh doing the supermarket shop together - if we're buying separate groceries, we get in adjoining queues and race to see who gets through the checkout first! Yes, we're sad, sad people (last time, his checkout operator looked at us as if we were mad - but mine got into the spirit and we gave a little cheer as she put the last item through )

BalloonSlayer · 06/10/2008 12:15

"we've had discussions which lasted the whole weekend."

So have we !!

We call them rows.

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 06/10/2008 12:49

i'm not saying to orcastrate it all - but on the other hand, we only have 3 nights a week together at the mo, so rather than just flop we'd like to actually do something constructive iycwim, otherwise we'll do the same old thing each night.

tomorrow we're cooking a meal between us - should be fun as i'm not v good at sharing the cooking!

went out for a nice meal on sat - was like drown rats but was nice all the same!

He watches TV. I internet and read.

We tried to instigate a non TV and computer evening (and tried scrabble) but it all felt a bit forced.

Wheres my spade for this rut!

LeQueen, I am hoping they are just pulling your leg - or maybe just a teensy bit envious?
