Ok help needed here -this is a relationship issue and IT issue.

Friend sent me some photos tonight so I open them up through Hotmail and Adobe Photoshop Album Starter opens up the picture. I want to print it out so it somes up with selction of pictures to check to print out. Many of these pictures that appeared I did not recognise , it looked like images off webpages that may have been looked at but not downloaded. Alot of them were items that had been in news, adverts etc, I'm sure anyone who knows something about It will understand what I mean. Also in the slection of pictures were some pornographic (adults !) and one very burred photo of a man in what looks alike a hotel room with a woman.

Now the photo is blurred and the picture of the man is side on but it looks like my DH !
When I enlarged it it just got more blurred. I printed it out .

When I have tried to find it again on the computer Icant ! Now would this image be something that my Dh may have recived by an email etc looked at then deleted?

So two questions

  1. Does Adobe photoshop throw up random photos or stuff that has been viewed on computer but not necessarily saved . ( I think I could just about cope with Dh looking at porn - I think ..)
  1. Where the hell did this other 'suspect' photo come from and wher the hell can I retriev it from my computer so I can try and get a better look before I acuse him of somthing.

I am sorry to say that I am 99% it is him.

Yes I am a namechanger BUT NOT A TROLL.

My mind is racing at the moment and I need to see that photo again.

!

It may not be him or his doing...do not think the worst...and computers do crazy things sometimes!
When DH and I got engaged, I sent a little email out to my family and friends. For fun, I decorated it with a Clip Art images of a diamond ring. Or so I thought. However, when my family received the message, each one of them got a separate porn image attachment instead of the diamond ring! I WAS MORTIFIED! I thought they were winding me up at first. At that was from the official Microsft clip art website...so strange things CAN happen...

So sorry for you though - I understand the stress...

Have you found the folder your email normally save all images to?

wehaveallbeenthere · 25/09/2008 13:44

FlirtyThirty is correct. I bet (and I would give my right arm that your DH is the innocent victim) of a computer virus or worm or whatever those programs that are ingrained into your computer by buggers that just want to destroy things.
I know there are millions upon millions sent out every day to computers. Usually a spam folder will catch them (the very basic ones) but unless you have upgraded protection like Norton or others (not a computer person although my husband lives for this stuff) you are probably the victim of this.
I know the new iphone 3G just had a write up where they had a girl from some factory on a new phone. It wasn't on all the phones but it was on a new phone because the workers didn't delete the pictures before they boxed it up.
Again, I know how upsetting this is...but you would want to get the benefit of the doubt if it was the other way around. There is probably some innocent explanation and because your DH is away so much your mind is going at full tilt. Anyones would.
The more I think about it though, the more it seems you are the victim of a computer jerk.

wehaveallbeenthere · 25/09/2008 13:46

I would also ask your friend to check her computer because they may actually have passed it onto you (innocently of course) and anyone else they send email to.

MascaraOHara · 25/09/2008 13:52

if you are on Vista, check your 'Received Files' directory..

..I didn't know I had this until one day and I was shocked at the content!

somewhatconfused · 25/09/2008 16:40

Hi,

I spent most of last night opening the photos that my friend sent me to try and get the picture up again but couldn't get any of the porno ones again, hence why I desparately trying to see where esle it could be on the computer.

Many of the phots on the Adobe system when I tried to print oit were adverst, popup and banners so perhaps the system di just pick these other pictures at random.

What folder would email images be sent to ?

We have Norton protection on our system and do a virus check etc every week.

The more I think about it THE picture the more bizarre I think it all is . On one hand the man looks like my DH , in a hotel room ( can see the shape of the fire instructions on back of door ), then on the other hand would a married man want himself to be filmed in such circumstances with the possible knowledge that it could be used against him.

Both male & female are in picture so it was either taken by webcam or photographic timer . I am sure that DH would not knowingly allow himself to be filmed/photographed this way due to possible blackmail etc which would compromise his work , but myGod it does look like him.

I feel sick everytime I look at it , I really dont know what to say to him when he comes home, I feel asthough I will burst out crying. I dont know whether to make a joke out of it and hand him the picture and say how it looks like him 'ha ha' and see how he reacts .

I really dont want to hink that it is him as that would really put the nail in the coffin of our sex life .

and possibely the final straw in our marriage !

Show it to him and ask him

wehaveallbeenthere · 25/09/2008 19:14

SWC, If it is him (I doubt it despite how much it looks like him) then the damage has been done.
I don't know of anyone, cheaters or angels, that would allow themselves to be photographed in a cheating on spouse situation. That just doesn't make any sense. It would jeopardize everything...relationship and property. It sounds more and more like a virus and Norton (although good) should have other products to help. Norton is for specific virus'. It doesn't cover everything. I was told that by my husband (the computer genius and socially inept hubby that he is).
I've had lots of people ask about my husband (lookalikes) and such so don't hang your DH yet. Show him the pic if you have it and don't cry. He will probably feel hurt and ask how you could even think this guy in the picture looks anything like him? Then he will probably show you all the differences and you will feel like an idiot. AND THEN you can do some wild making up...(sigh) I can still feel my right arm here, solid in the socket.

wehaveallbeenthere · 26/09/2008 00:01

How annoying. I went to a Rubiks cube solving site and over in the side is a voluptuous blonde, nearly naked dancing ab out wanting me to get in touch with her to...it wasn't for talking.
I forwarded the page and then backed it up again and it was a different advertisement for popcorn or something.
I'm almost certain that you are a victim (and your DH also) through no fault of either of you.
I would ask him to help you make sure these don't come up again...because if they are embedded they will. You can pretty much bet at the most inopportune time too.

SparklyGothKat · 26/09/2008 00:22

I ahd a virus where all the adverts on Mumsnet were porn!!! It done something and changed all the pics to hardcore porn pics. I was so shocked... did a thread and people helped me get rid of it....

wehaveallbeenthere · 26/09/2008 01:12

SparklyGothKat, I know this probably isn't worth asking but were any of them what confused described?
I know there isn't a lot of difference between porn and well porn but maybe it is a virus from MN? Could that be a possibility? Probably just a stupid notion. WHABT checks the attachment of her right arm...still intact.

wehaveallbeenthere · 26/09/2008 01:13

If that is the case it sounds more like a hacker than a virus...er, a viral hacker? Arm wrestling anyone?

SparklyGothKat · 26/09/2008 13:56

they were proper hardcore pics. It was a virus on my pc that attached itself to the ads and changed them. Once I did a scan it got rid of them. but it was my PC not MN. I will see if I can find the thread

wehaveallbeenthere · 26/09/2008 14:13

Thank you SparklyGothKat, I think that Somewhatconfused is the victim of same and it is just driving her mad.
If this is the same then at least she can have some peace of mind.

SparklyGothKat · 26/09/2008 14:42

couldn't find the thread must have been in chat.

wehaveallbeenthere · 26/09/2008 15:05

Thats okay SGK. I think it sounds more and more like a virus. I used to get them (via spam) on a regular basis when I had a friend that sent me anything hotmail.
I just hope somewhatconfused and her DH figure that out before it becomes accusations and worse.
I think the issue is that one of the pics closely resembles her DH but I really feel that it isn't....it is coincidence and just some stranger that looks shockingly like her DH.
