Family leaving my kids out

My mum has just told me that my cousin threw a birthday party for his son today and all of the little kids from the family were invited apart from mine. That's all the other cousins kids ageing from 2 to 5 and mine were the only kids in the entire family to be left out. The excuse was "they were only inviting the little ones" this includes a 5 year old however and my DS is only 7.

I am pissed off. Its not just this incident either, my mum is constantly reminded when the other kids birthdays are (so she can buy them cards etc) yet nobody buys my kids a card.

I'm just pissed off, I don't care what anyone says, if you're having a birthday party for kids in a family you don't just leave 2 out like that.

I'd consider the possibility of someone stirring things if I were you. I mean someone telling the others with some authority that you were already busy or that you wouldn't be interested in a little kids party.

I know they will say its because I don't "bother" with anyone. Its all down to the fact that my mum doesn't socialise much with the family, all the other cousins mums do so I suppose they're all closer because of that. I still don't think its an excuse though, I'd never invite an entire family like that and just leave two kids out.

I think that reminding family members of up and coming birthdays is bad manners. My kids were bought up not to expect anything from family, then when cards did arrive they were reall pleased.

Why is it up to your Mum to socialise with the family, you are an adult you can socialise direct with your cousins/aunts/uncles leave your mum out of the loop.

Sorry, what's your mum got to do with it? Socialise yourself, you don't need to go through your mum. You are a separate family from her.
