I'm 40, have 3 kids (16,13 and 5 yrs), I get some asking how old and I say guess, I have had 35 which was from the guy doing our kitchen (very nice man!)and 38 which is alot more realistic.

I do dress like a younger person, I try to be trendy but not too teenagery. I'ver just lost some weight too so i've got more confidence to wear dresses and I go out more these days with friends whereas before i'd stay in on a friday night.

I have got my libido back thanks to the very nice kitchen man too (but thats another subject!).

I,m 48 and DH is 38, we had one person say to him when told of the age difference 'you dont look ten years older than her' !!!!!!! Luckily DH just laughed, especially as I have been a grandmother or 11 years!. Its in the genes, my Father is almost 80 and looks at the most 65, my mom died at 58, but till she got cancer looked at least ten years younger. And no I am not 'trendy' Im Paddington shaped, and height and wear, classic type clothes.

unknownrebelbang · 22/05/2007 19:12

I'm not trendy at all, I have three lads, have a sedentary job and am definitely not slim.

I turned 40 last August and people seem to think I'm younger. (including someone yesterday as it happens).

Aloha · 22/05/2007 19:16

I'm not sure I really look younger than my age, maybe people just think women of 43/44 look old! I know that people tend to assume I am younger, but I wear reasonably cool clothes (not as funky as Beetroot or as cleavage-enhancing as MI though ) and have young children and people think you simply cannot be an old bat with babies.
I am currently testing anti-ageing therapies for the Daily Mail so will keep you updated! I drink too much but I have never smoked, and I honestly think that helps.

Aloha · 22/05/2007 19:17

You would NEVER think Beetroot had four children though - but I'm the kind of person on whom pregnancy wreaks appalling damage!

filthymindedvixen · 22/05/2007 19:23

I'm not quite there yet - but 37 looms next week so I'm trying to get used to the idea that I am definitely not in my mid-30s anymore. At 25 I looked about 15, and when I had my first child, my health visitor gave me information about the local group for teen mums!
Sadly, years of smoking and general abuse mean I now only look around 5 years younger...on a good day.
I'm an ex smoker now but the damage has been done I reckon.

Tamum · 22/05/2007 19:25

Yes, and no idea. This is a very old thread!

Tamum · 22/05/2007 19:26

Oh, and agree about Beety and 4 children

Blu · 22/05/2007 19:27

I'm very nearly in my 50's. In my early 40's i looked a lot younger than I was - but not now. Lack of excercise and a toned body has resulted in a complete landslide! I feel ok about it though - not going to add to the stress lines by worrying about it!

Aloha · 22/05/2007 19:28

The fab thing about children is that they love you whatever you look like!

Tamum · 22/05/2007 19:29

Oh Blu, you don't look anything like in your late forties you silly!

Aloha · 22/05/2007 19:30

dh is 50 this year - he doesn't remotely look it, I think. Children love him and don't think about nonsense like his looks whether they are 15 or two. Dsd is 15 and I think she thinks I'm Ok. That's good enough for me!

moondog · 22/05/2007 19:30

I am 53 and am constantly being mistaken for a schoolgirl.
I put it down to regular drinks of cocoa.

lou33 · 22/05/2007 19:30

i'm 40, and i get told i look younger, but i certainly feel it today

i have 4 kids

Blu · 22/05/2007 19:33

DS did say I looked 'a bit like a granny' the other day.

But that's because grannies are so glamourous these days, obviously!

filthymindedvixen · 22/05/2007 19:34
