oops i sympathise. After my mum died my Dad married again and lost interest in my brother and i - he had a huge amount of photos but bro and i have hardly any.

a family member just decided to go clear her place without my knowledge soon after she died

What about friends of your mum? Even if they don't have any of you, they might have some of your mother when she was younger.

There is one photo of DH as a child - his sister destroyed the lot apart from one on the wall. It is horrible not having that link to the past, let alone after losing your mum
