I had the munchies yesterday and also had olives and crackerbreads .

Also a g&t and a glass of wine and a sizeable amount of hummous

Psychomum5 · 02/07/2008 09:52

is hummus bad then???

or is it the alcohol that smashed the halo???

morningpaper · 02/07/2008 09:54

lol sounds like my MIL

She saw a CARROT in my organic veg box and held it aloft, saying "Oh my goodness, look at the the size of this; it's a meal in itself!"

In what world is a CARROT a meal in itself?

And when I make her a sandwich she guffaws if I use TWO slices of bread - "I can't possible eat all that!"

Sometimes she just WATCHES me eat and says things like "I can't believe how much you can eat!"

What's wrong with eating healthy food???

I am a size 6-8 (whatever that means, when I was 18 and a bit smaller than I am now I was a size 10).

I much prefer to eat say olives, veg etc as a snack .I don't much care for stodgy, fattening food.

Kimi · 02/07/2008 11:01

Nothing at all wrong with it kitty, just thought it was funny she had the munchies for rivita

hummous v v v high in fat (though good fat if its olive oil - still fat) and bought ones are often very high in salt.

Yummy though.

WilyWombat · 02/07/2008 11:11

I think the word "munchies" conjurs up an image of something you really shouldnt eat...olives and ryveta dont really fit that description do they?

Mine is usually toast and butter or a white bread and peanut butter sandwich at 10pm

JacobsPrincess · 02/07/2008 11:17

Just had the munchies - ate a mahoosive slice of DS's birthday cake washed down with raspberry leaf tea!

izyboy · 02/07/2008 11:34

Ah title a bit misleading, it sounds as if she thinks that 'munchies' of Riveta and olives are naughty as opposed to just 'cos she fancies them. I still think tho' that someone like her is probably always 'on the go' or fidgets alot (it has been proved that slim people who eat normally burn up calories fidgeting).

Either that or she 'forgets' proper meals and snacks on crap occasionally. I can assure you she is no different to you. There will be a reason why she is slim, it will not be just because she is made that way (although she may well have a petite frame).

DrNortherner · 02/07/2008 11:37

I had the muchies last night and ate:

Ice cream, rasberries and meringue
2 Kit Kats
Packet of crisps

Psychomum5 · 02/07/2008 11:50

I did not realise how high in fat hummous is!!!

((or am I in denial as I live on the stuff))

still, I have no fat otherwise due to no dairy, so I guess it is healthy stuff for me!!!

Kewcumber · 02/07/2008 11:57

Hummous Serving Size: 50g; Calories: 155, Total Fat: 13.4g, Carbs: 4.9g, Protein: 3.7g

50g is generally about quarter of a smallish pot

Ie full pot has 610 cals and 52 grammes of fat ( I think adult intake of fat should be about 60g per day)

Psychomum5 · 02/07/2008 12:00

.....am really stunned.

why is it that the nicest stuff is the highest calories??

not that I will stop eating it however.......it is my lunch most days

Kewcumber · 02/07/2008 12:04

given that you look the size of a wispy wiaf - no I wouldn't stop eating it!

kittywise · 02/07/2008 14:20

psychomum you can get reduced fat hummous!

micci25 · 02/07/2008 14:28

was she joking? pre dc i was very slim and people often aksed me if i ate/brought food to work for me/asked if my oven had broken down/gave me numbers for the local takeaway etc!!! it annoyed me but in an attempt to try and get them to stop/take the piss out myself instead of others doing it i would say things like "oh no i couldnt possibly eat a KFC right now, i had two rasins and half a peanut m and m last night, i feel so greedy"

Lauriefairycake · 02/07/2008 14:30

I have pmt and currently I am eating a bag of Hotel Chocolate praline buttons

yum yum

claireybee · 02/07/2008 14:52

Ok I like ryvita (with butter and marmite)but not as much as I like chocolate and eating a few ryvita and some olives is not the munchies in my book!
