I'm a single parent. Recently had to have surgery, in which there were complications requiring further surgery. I still feel vulnerable as all this scared me. After the first lot of surgery I was doing ok, a few days later was when the complications began. I was in extreme pain. I had been staying at my mum's during my recovery. I had my gallbladder removed and had leaking cystic ducts. During this my mum and sister were saying that I.m fine that I have a low pain threshold. My brother ended up calling me an ambulance. I was admitted into hospital and was basically kept in for 3 weeks in September. During this time I had to have an ercp and a liver drain. I also had numbers ct scans and a MRI ( in which I had a panic attack) When they allowed me home I initially struggled. But I wasn't allowed to be on my own. To my face my family were being supportive however a few times I've been upstairs and when Im coming down I hear comments about how I'm a drama queen, how I don't need to rest as much as I am, I was initially told to rest completely as I still had the drain attached. I gradually started doing some small bits myself. Since the drain has been removed I'm doing a lot more myself. Their comments have really hurt me especially seeing as I'm trying. I know it's not easy. But to hear that from the people id do anything for has really got to me. I know I'm generally very sensitive without all this.

I’d cut them some slack if they’d taken me in and looked after my child when I was seriously ill and when I had to return to hospital for weeks, tbh.

I'm really sorry that your family aren't more supportive Are you still at your mum's home?
Some of your sensitivity may perhaps be from hearing this kind of response growing up.

I wonder if it would help you a bit to be in your own place again ( if you are well enough) . Then you can rest when you want to ( as much as you can while caring for a child) without criticism.

I'm sorry and I can see why all this hurts and why you feel lonely.

"Drama queen" - how dare they! I know it is hard to get inside another's pain, but honestly that is so crass. I am sorry you are feeling unsupported and wish you a speedy recovery.
