Being friends with your ex

WinterKitchen · Today 18:05

I'm quite good friends with one of my exes from a long long time ago, we see each other three or four times a year and chat in between. We have never talked about the brief six month relationship that ended when we realised that we were good friends but not partners.

Apologies for TMI but my friend asked me doesn't it feel weird meeting up with Tom when you've shagged him and done allsorts in the past?

I've not thought like that. Does anyone else?

I have a really good friend who was previously much more. We did have a long period of NC to recover from the relationship and then gradually, almost accidentally, started seeing each other at various social things. Now several years on are good platonic friends. Tbh it feels like we are both completely different people to each other now and that time never crosses my mind when we're together.

Nope, DP and I have been together 20 years and both still have friends that were exes.

DP asked me a few years ago if it ever crosses my mind "I've seen you naked" when I see my ex, because it does when she sees hers. Not so much for me.

Other than that, it's perfectly normal, they're just friends like any other.

It varies. A lot. I try to stay on good terms with my exes because by and large they're good people who deserve support. But that can often be difficult, and sometimes impossible, to integrate with a new relationship.

Same.
