Would you be upset that your partner got himself present (new playstation) and not got you anything if you'd just brought baby home?
i dont want to feel upset when we in our baby bubble but do feel a bit hurt. For context i was in hospital from 27 weeks and delivered at 30 so we been in neonatal unit for 2 months which has took a toll on relationship

Congratulations on your new baby OP.

I can't understand why your partner has bought himself a PlayStation at this point in time at all. I would have thought that both of you would be too occupied looking after your new born baby for him to have any time for him to to be playing games like a teenager. Surely his baby and you ahould be the focus of his attention. I think it doesn't bode well OP.
And yes if you have been in hospital giving birth to his child then a gift for you would have been a nice gesture. And also buying something for the baby. But buying himself a PlayStation? Absolutely not appropriate.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with buying himself a PlayStation.
But if he’s spending that much after you have a new baby it seems a bit mean not to buy you something too.
There’s plenty of downtime with a new baby, although mumsnet seems to think otherwise. If he’s going to game for a bit, make sure he also plays his part and gives you a break too.

I got more gaming done in the first few months of DD's life than I did in the next 5 years combined.

She just would not sleep anywhere but in someones arms. So pretty much half of every night was spent with me on the sofa with a baby asleep on me as I quietly murdered aliens, with DP fast asleep upstairs.

DP on the other hand got through a lot of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

I’m with @Blankitout here, i’d be saying you’re not going to have much time for gaming mate, we have a baby to look after and i need some rest after giving birth.
