Would you expect to spend Christmas together after nearly 2 years?

Definitely...now dh and I spent our first Xmas together after 4 months (mind you we did get engaged after 2 weeks so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask!) 😂😂😂

Of course . You have been together 2 years .

cadburyegg · 03/10/2026 00:09

Depends on circumstances, children, etc

mondaytosunday · 03/10/2026 00:38

Yes. Unless you have family miles apart and want to spend the day with them.

Whoops75 · 03/10/2026 01:28

Yes, and do Christmas as ye please.
On a deserted island or with family, start as ye mean to go on.

I think that’s about right. DP came from locations 4 hours apart so for the first couple of years, we’d spend Christmas morning together and then I’d shoot off down south to my family for a few days. After a couple of years, we decided to spend it together and decide which location and family we would be with together. However, as someone else pointed out, now is the time to strike out and make new couple transitions like spending Christmas as a couple and set the expectation.

Definitely - unless you have 14 children between you and various wife’s and other husbands. 2 years is a long time.

Ponderingwindow · 03/10/2026 01:38

If you are young and single, then yes. If you have children already and more complicated lives, then no.

Gateappreciation · 03/10/2026 01:43

Yes, unless there’s valid reasons not to. What’s the story ( in Ballymory)?

Rayna37 · 03/10/2026 06:47

Yes! Lots of variables though. Essentially it depends what both of your alternatives are. If one goes back to a big family extravaganza they’d be sad to miss but the other a slightly meh day then I can see a dilemma. Obviously kids in the mix makes it more complicated, as might elderly parents or any family you’d be leaving on their own if you made a different choice. Impossible to say without more information. Assuming you don’t live together so distance and home situation also relevant.
