Feeling lonely and stuck at 42, how can I change things?

I am 42 single and childless. I’m so sad at how my life has turned out. I’m struggling at the moment as I’m very lonely and I really want to change my mindset for good but I’m running out of enthusiasm of wanting to try as I can never seem to change how I feel. I have few friends but life and responsibilities means we don’t meet up that much. I work shift work in a challenging role, I enjoy it but it has become a bit monotonous. I have three days off coming up and no real plans. I feel sad when my colleagues all talk about that they’ve done on days off and I’ve done very little and sometimes see no one. I spend so much time alone as I live alone, it’s just getting a bit much. I’d like a relationship but I don’t feel I have anything to offer anymore. I’m sorry this is such a depressing post but I was hoping for advice or people in similar circumstances and were able to change their lives. I feel this has been made worse recently as a friend is moving away and I’ll miss her.

I am sorry op. What about completely changing your life? How are you financially? Could you move? Could you take a holiday on your 3 days off? What does your ideal life look like?

Get yourself out of the house and go for a walk. Find a nice park with a cafe. Sit and people watch. But mainly get some fresh air and exercise.
Whilst walking take in the air, the sights, the sounds and just for a moment feel free. Sit o a bench and have a meditate. Do Not look or go on your phone. Just for a short time.

There’s a website called the others club which is designed for childless people. Maybe see if there are any meet ups in your area as a chance to meet others in your situation? Have you thought about changing jobs?
