How long did it take to adjust to living alone?

Hi all, just wondering how long it takes to sort of settle into a newly single life? For context I was married for 28 years, now separated and house on the market in 2 weeks, and I will be moving out on my own. This will be my first time living alone at 54 and I have to say I'm a bit nervous. It feels scary having no one to rely on or ask for a hand with things or just someone to talk to when you get home every night. So for those who have been where I am now, did you find you settled into a new routine easily or did it take a long time? I am an only child and only have 1 child too and my mother is terminally ill so I don't have a lot of family and most friends are married/live miles away. Its all just feeling a bit sad and empty atm.

in winter months I had a lamp on a timer, so I never came home to a dark house, I also radio on low most of the time, if I worked from home a lot I would go for a walk at about 6pm.

I am used to it after a life of big families, it is peaceful but sometimes lonely, I encourage my children to drop in on me and have friends I can invite round.
I like to have places to go where I meet others briefly; I have an allotment but the gym or library may do this for you. Sundays and bank holidays are the difficult times for me.
Some people like to be booked up with clubs but I don’t like the commitment, I’m much happier knowing I can head out and bump into people any time of the week. Walking or cycling groups where you can join in as I please are also good for me.

‘They’ say it takes a month per year of marriage to recover and regroup and move on which seems about right to me.
Do things just for you and be your own greatest supporter. It is a big adjustment but comes with a myriad of small and large pleasures.
