Looking for some solidarity and to vent I guess.
Every time a salesperson knocks on our door and DH is the one who answers the door he just starts getting sucked in.

He will stand there listening to the whole sale speech. Looking at brochures. Feeling out forms. Handing out names, phone numbers, email address, answering every question they have. Like for the love of God, stop handing out your personal data to strangers, tell them thanks but no thanks and shut the fucking door!

Today was the cherry on the top. Probably 2 hours of our Saturday wasted. In the end, I had to go out there, threaten divorce and gave the death stare to the salesman. He left running, but with DH's info. I didn't go earlier as I had hopes, hopes that DH will send him packing on his own. I didn't want to be THAT wife, I didn't want to emasculate him, but here we are. I snapped.

Seriously, I can't even trust him now to answer the fucking door. Thanks for reading. I had to get it off my chest.

He sounds both vulnerable and incredibly gullible and you're going to be the victims of identity theft sooner or later the way he gives out information. That's why I said lock your credit down. I'd think seriously about separating finances

I hear you.

Does he not get that the only people selling door to door nowadays are scammers? Or cults like Jehovah Witness? He's a numbskull.

Lock down your credit and check your credit report regularly.

Not always scammers.

we recently had virgin fibre installed in our road. They sent salespeople down the week after with the sign up offers etc.

we had been after fibre for years for our home office, weren’t aware that it was available. Signed up there and then, been more than happy.

we also get the local hospice round collecting. Not scammers, just in need of donations.

Sorry, maybe where you are but that's way, way behind the times. It's even on the news what local scammers are going around and the utility companies send out emails because so many scammers are out there, doing the show us your bill and you can get lower rates. No reputable health care company here would do door to door fundraising. A lot of communities here have had no soliciting laws for years.

You could have looked up deals online.

It's also unsafe for people trying this stuff on or going door to door.

Does he do it because of the attention?

Anyone trying to flog at the door will be a con one way or another. We get a lot around our way.

At 7am one morning when I was 6 weeks postpartum with my second child I heard a massive bang outside my house and looked down to see 3 men ripping up my driveway. A door salesman took my husbands very enthusiastic brochure looking and quote getting as a go ahead 😩🙃🙃. The best bit was as I was screaming at my husband to go down and stop them he honestly said to me ‘should I just brush my teeth first’. He’s never spoken to a doors salesman since
