Partner undermines me postpartum and makes me feel in the wrong

My partner always makes me feel like im in the wrong. Im 6 months postpartum and ive been struggling with my mental health and body image ever since having our baby. I started the weight loss injections and also started going to a weight loss class so I can start to feel better about myself. I lost a half a stone and I came home and told him as I was proud of myself and already feeling better within myself and his only response was "how does it feel like to be cheating" aka taking injections means im cheating at losing weight. It really hurt me and make me feel so good about myself to feeling crushed and horrible. I told him I cant believe he said that and he responded with "you cant say anything to you anymore" like i reacted over the top or something and hes been off with me ever since by barely speaking to me. All I can do is sit with my thoughts all day long and he makes me feel like im wrong and he always does this. He says something that makes me feel bad and I always end up apologising. I just dont know what to do anymore. It's just a cycle that never ends with him. He made another comment a couple of weeks ago saying he will not make love with me unless im completely finished with postpartum bleeding (i had a c section) as it puts him off massively and it just made me feel awkward and like he could have approached it in a better way.

At six months PP you should not still be continuously bleeding so you need to get that checked out.
That aside, he's a knob.

This.

Also, he doesn't like you OP. That's where all the snide comments are coming from. He's just not on your side.

He is being a bully. There is no doubt of that and before I say anything else you should not be continuously bleeding 6 months after birth Caesarian or not. Get to the doctor and insist on some investigations. Continuous bleeding will drag you down mess with your hormonal balance and possible make you anaemic

However it’s possible that you are operating in victim mode. If my husband said to me “how does it feel to be cheating” I would reply “effing great, have you got a problem with that?”
if he said he didn’t want to sleep with me as I was still bleeding, my response would be “phew thank heavens for that”

in my observation long successful marriages are not only based on love and companionship but also a man always being a little bit cautious about incurring their wives displeasure……if you act like a doormat dont be surprised if he wipes his boots on you

What a terrible comment. No one should have to just put up with their partner treating them like this. How about putting the blame where it actually belongs

He needs to become your ex. He sounds dreadful and he is not a good dad to his child either if he can and does treat you with such disdain.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/09/2026 11:24

And do get the bleeding checked out by the gp. This should not be happening.

Sunbringer · 26/09/2026 11:25

Cheating is when you do something against the rules to steal a win from someone else. Weight loss isn’t a competition and there are no rules… so how can you cheat?

When he says ‘I can’t say anything to you anymore’ ask him to explain what he meant then when he said it. Explain what he wanted to get out of it and how he was trying to make you feel. If he won’t even talk ask why he’s here if he hates you so much z
