Should I ask a friend to be bridesmaid if we've drifted apart?

Hello! So soon I going to be asking my friends/family to be bridesmaids for our wedding and I have got a list of people I want to ask. There is one friend who I used to be really close with we lived in the same town would see each other all the time, very close, helped with her children. A few years later I moved away not far only about 45 mins but since then I've probably seen her about 10 times in 3 years. She never drives this way and I know she didn't used to like driving very much but she drives to unfamiliar places for work now so I feel like this isn't a reason not to visit. When we meet up I will go to hers or we will meet so where closer to her. We used to talk about me getting married all the time and her daughter was always so excited. Now this is my problem. I really want her to be my bridesmaid but I can't help but feel that her have really drifted apart and am I only doing this because of the times we used to talk
about me getting married when we were closer? Also her daughter I had always said she would be a bridesmaid but I feel that the relationship isn't the same as it used to be. I've also had some trauma in my life more recently and I feel that she wasn't there as much as I would have expected her to be with messaging and things. My partner has always said that it's very one sided (I never really wanted to admit this) but I'm wondering now if he was right?

You’re overthinking. It’s just a bridesmaid role for one day. All that’s required is that she wears a dress and helps you out on the day. If you think she can manage that and you would like her to do it- ask! And let yourself be happy!
